LEONARDO'S LAST SUPPER

Between 1495 and 1498 Leonardo da Vinci painted the Last Supper in the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie, on behalf of Ludovico il Moro duke of Milan. Some disciplesin the fresco appear very upset by Christ's words"somebody among you will betray me" in contrast with the Christ immobility and Giuda, who is crushed by this revelation. The scene is dipped in a diffused lighting.

Leonardo chose the tempera on a gypsum's priming for his painting and not the technique of the fresco, to graduate better the chiaroscuro and to modify some choices. On the wall in front of the Last Supper there is the Crucifixion, a fresco by Donato Montorfano (1495).
